Electric Tender Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is the range & runtime?

This varies by model, so please contact us for specific details. Range & runtime for the tenders can vary greatly depending on speed, weight and environmental conditions like sea state and tidal flow.

What kind of batteries do you use?

We use Super B Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4) batteries - the safest battery chemistry on the market. Safety is a huge factor when considering your tender is your life raft and also stored in your home (boat). LiFePO4 batteries won’t catch fire like lithium-ion batteries can.

    ▪ How many years will the batteries last?

The battery packs are rated to >3,500 charge cycles @100% Depth of Discharge (DoD). So if you charged your tender every day, then the batteries are rated to last for over 9.5 years.

Can I use other batteries to power the ZeroJet system?

No, the system can only be used with ZeroJet battery packs. This is because the system is designed in a way that all components interact with each other, providing better safety, optimized performance, and more accurate data capabilities.

  • How can I charge my tender?

You will need to purchase a ZeroJet charger which is portable and can be kept on the boat, on the dock or in a garage or where the boat is most often charged. The charger requires a 16A socket & AC 90-234V power source to operate.

Can I charge with solar panels?

We are working on a solution for solar charging, however at the moment we only have the one charger available.

    ▪ Can I charge at a car charging station?

In short, no. Car charging stations are a gateway for AC power to vehicles that carry AC to DC converters onboard. The ZeroJet battery pack can only be charged using the ZeroJet charger which is a portable charger that plugs into standard household outlets.

  • How fast is the boat powered by the ZeroJet electric propulsion system?

Boats powered by the ZeroJet system can reach over 20 knots. We recommend a planing speed of 12-14 knots for maximum range on a single charge.

How much power does the ZeroJet electric jet system provide?

The ZeroJet system provides up to 14 kW of output power which is similar to a 20 hp outboard.

Does it work in freshwater and saltwater?

Yes. With a closed loop cooling system there is no water intake, making it an ideal solution for any type of water and one that doesn’t transport organisms / species between different bodies of water. All parts are designed to prevent corrosion, enabling operation in saltwater environments.

  • What kind of maintenance can I expect?

In comparison to a traditional combustion engine, servicing of the ZeroJet system is very minimal. We provide a maintenance guide which includes a fresh water rinse of key areas after each use to prevent build-up over time.

What type of cables do you use?

We provide all cables to and from the battery boxes and the propulsion unit. The cables are of high specification and high quality to create a firm connection and for longevity. They also feature an easy mechanism for securing and releasing.
